Samsung's big annual software update is spreading across its device range. 9to5Google reports that Samsung is now rolling out its Android 17-based update, One UI 9, to its collection of supported Galaxy smartphones and tablets, and has published a running list of which devices have received it so far. The article was updated on 20 October.
According to the report, One UI 9 is more of an evolution than an overhaul. It brings slight design tweaks, more AI-powered features and changes built on the redesign introduced in One UI 7. Key additions include warranty and Samsung Care status in the Settings menu, broader support for Now Nudge, My FanCam automatic video cropping based on a selected subject, more customisation for the Quick Panel, AI privacy alerts, upgrades to Samsung DeX and lock screen clocks that adapt to your wallpaper.
The device list is long. Foldables including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE, Z TriFold, Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are covered, and the newest additions marked in the report include the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, as well as A-series phones such as the A37, A27, A56 and A36. I have not seen the complete list, so owners should check the original article or Samsung's own announcement for their specific model and region.
Before updating, back up your data, make sure the battery is well charged and use Wi-Fi to download the update. Rollouts usually reach devices in stages, so you may not see it immediately, and carrier models can arrive later than unlocked ones. After installing, review the new privacy and AI settings, because some features may be switched on by default. If you notice battery drain or glitches, give the phone a day or two to finish optimising before drawing conclusions.
