MSI releases its Wind Notebook

With small form factor notebooks being the rage these days its no surprise that MSI has entered the fray with its newly launched Wind Notebook. It is based on Intel’s brand-new Atom processor which is designed for a mix of performance, low power usage, size and affordability The MSI Wind Notebook is approximately 1 kilogram in weight and only uses up 2.5 watts, that is less than 1/10 of the 35 watts of the Intel Core 2 Duo.
The new MSI ECO Engine technology can distribute power intelligently to prolong the operating time of the battery.The WInd Notebook Uses the ECO Engine software to decide between the 5 working modes for either gaming, movies, presentations, office work and Turbo Battery. The system can automatically adjust the brightness and the distribution of power accordingly to prolong battery usage.

The first model of MSI Wind Notebook will be U100. MSI has yet to announce when they are bringing in the Wind Notebook to Malaysia but stay tuned and we will update as soon as it hits the streets.

VirtualReal Concept Interface

Asus's Eee PC products were a big force at the show, but this concept design from the company's research labs certainly turned heads, too. Dubbed "VirtualReal," the interface features two displays, including a touch screen where the keyboard would normally be. Meanwhile, the top screen has a camera integrated above to detect a user's hand gestures. Cool stuff, but the company says it remains only a concept for the moment. Visit Asus's site for more info.

Chi Mei Ultraslim Display

This is the ultraslim, 13.3-inch, WXGA laptop display from Chi Mei Optoelectronics, which makes the display for Apple's Macbook Air. With a glass front polished to 0.3mm and a 0.8mm backlit LCD panel, it weighs a scant 7.7 ounces and produces a bright and crisp image when viewed from the side or even when looked at outdoors.

i-Knock B01 Personal Instant Messaging Notifier

Plug this crazy little critter into your computer's USB port, and it will hammer itself in the head, light up and spout preset phrases when you receive an instant message or e-mail. Asus Ares CG6150 Gamer Chic PC

Believe it or not, this beast won a design award. It's fashioned after a suit of armor, and its maker, Asus, says it "exudes gamer chic." The Asus Ares CG6150 has enough high-end components to make serious gamers squeal, including four Intel Core 2 Extreme CPUs, four nVidia graphics chips, 8GB of DDR3 memory, 4TB of storage and enough liquid-cooling gear (we hope) to stop it from self-combusting.

Gigabyte Roll Pad

In ancient China (so the marketing says), artists wrapped their paintbrushes in bamboo mats to protect them. That was the design inspiration for Gigabyte's aluminum Roll Pad, which you put under a laptop to increase airflow and keep the machine cool. The rubber rims prevent it from scratching your desk. The product won a Taiwan Excellence award for design.

MSI's Dancing Network Robots

MSI got the most attention at Computex for its new U100 Wind mini-laptop and Wind desktop, but hidden away at the company's showcase were its upcoming network robots, built with Japanese robot maker Speecys. The robots will include a network Webcam in their head, and they'll be able to say "I love you" and sing and dance for your amusement. They won't tuck you in at night, however.

Dialogue Flybook

Dialogue Technology is back with an update to its Flybook, which lets you watch a DVD on a plane when the person in front of you drops their seat back. This latest version has a 1.2-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a Centrino Wi-Fi chip set, plus up to 4GB of memory.

Latest 3G iPhone

It's been a long, leak-filled wait, but Apple finally took the wraps off its 3G iPhone. Thinner edges, full plastic back, flush headphone jack, and the iPhone 2.0 firmware -- Apple's taking a lot of the criticisms to heart from the first time around. Obviously 3G is at the forefront, but they're also making sure it's available all over internationally, works with enterprises, runs 3rd party apps... and does it all for cheaper. Apple claims its 3G speeds trounce the competition, with pageloads 36% faster than the N95 and Treo 750 -- and of course it completely trounces the old EDGE data speeds.
Battery life isn't getting put out to pasture though, with 300 hours of standby, 8-10 hours of 2G talk, 5 hours of 3G talk, 7 hours of video and 24 hours of audio. GPS is also a go. Apple is using A-GPS, which supplements regular satellite GPS data with info from cellular towers for faster location. (WiFi data is also worked into the mix, which should give users a pretty solid lock on where the heck they are on this planet.) Unfortunately, as expected there's no front-facing cam, and while its edges are thinner than before it's still about a millimeter thicker at the center (12.3mm over 11.6mm before). Apple hopes to launch in 70 countries this year, with the black 8GB going for $199 and 16GB for $299 in black or white. (Both price points require a contract, of course.) Apple will be hitting the 22 biggest markets, including the US, on July 11th. More info after the break.

Update: Just bought an iPhone? Listen up: "Customers who purchased a 2.5G iPhone on or after May 27 and want to swap it out for a new iPhone will be able to do so without incurring an additional handset charge for the new device. They will of course need to turn in their 2.5G iPhone." And for the rest of you, AT&T says there's no way to buy it without agreeing to a contract.

JVC launches Super Slim Full HD LCD TV

JVC’s new super-slim LT-42S90 LCD TV features a cabinet that across most of its width measures a mere 39mm in depth, with a maximum thickness of just 74mm at the panel’s centre. This design ensures that from nearly any angle, these models present a super-slim appearance. Complementing the super-slim design is a thin 23mm bezel, which helps to further minimise the presence of the cabinet. It weighs less than 20kg and consumes 183watts one of the lowest figures in the industry today.

The slim design was made possible through the use of a new JVC-developed slim panel backlight unit and power supply substrate, or chassis. The new slim LCD panel backlight unit is 40 percent smaller (with a mere 20mm depth and 13mm bezel width) compared to a conventional LCD backlight. What’s more, the unit weighs only 12kg and consumes just 145W of power.

JVC's display engineering team succeeded in developing a new, slimmer backlight unit by optimizing the light-diffusing plates and light-reflection sheets, as well as improving their overall composition. This provided uniform light-diffusion at all the corners and edges without the addition of more CCFL tubes, while maintaining adequate luminance to ensure that the screen always remains bright.

The LT-42S90 LCD TV will be available in 42-inch size, and offers 1920 x 1080p resolution. It retails at RM10,999 and is available now.

eMagin Z800 3D visor

While the potential use of the Z800 3DVisor is manifold, I would say the gaming community will definitely warm up to it readily - after all, who wouldn’t want to experience big screen gaming despite living in a cramped living room?

A laptop for 75 USD - a better and a cheaper model of the OLPC laptop

A new version of the OLPC laptop (aka 100 dollars laptop) will have a dual touchscreen monitor, consumption of only 1 watt and it will cost 75 USD.

New model of the laptop, created specially for the nonprofit project One Laptop Per Child (OLPC), will be called XO-2 and it is already being worked on.

The laptop has low dimensions, it is twice smaller than the initially product and it won't have keyboard but only a dual touchscreen monitor on the both parts. But all these characteristics can be proved only in 2010, when it is expecting that the laptop will appear on the market.

Dual-SIM Evolio phone - you should have it!

As a weakness we have noticed only the fact that the phone does not have a loud speaker. Otherwise it is a very good mobile phone. iRiver P10 a multifunctional player

New mp3 player launched Tuesday by iRiver in the whole world, called P10 has a lot of functions included in a rather extraordinary design.

Well-known player producer furnished P10 with a LCD display with a 4 inch touchscreen and an 800x480 maximum resolution. P10 has a generous memory of 33 GB, on which can be stocked hours and hours of music or different files.

The player reproduces video files in Wmv, Mpeg, DMB and GUI – a new format created for writing recognizing function. P10 can read PDF, Word and Excel files and can be used even to read a book.

Standard P10 version will cost 200 USD and a Pro one will cost 250 USD.

Roku Netflix Player

The Roku Netflix Player represents the first salvo in Netflix's push into the living room with streaming video. Previously, the Web-based movie rental company had announced at CES that it was partnering with LG to provide a box, too. But Roku's is first to market--and as such, garners all the notice.

Inexpensive streaming box makes it simple to access movies in your Netflix Instant Queue.

Compact enough to fit in with other gadgets in your living room, the Netflix Player is unremarkable black, five-inch square that stands just two inches tall. The device sits between your television and your Internet connection (wired or wireless 802.11 b/g). The back of the device is packed with ports, but doesn't overwhelm: The unit outputs HDMI, composite, component, and S-Video ports out the back, along with SPDIF and analog stereo audio.

The installation screen warns you that set-up make take three minutes; in reality, though, it may take longer if you're not also by your computer. Set-up went smoothly, but in order to activate the Netflix Player, I had to log into my Netflix account on my PC, enter an activation code provided by the box, and then return to the unit.

Entering an access code isn't the only thing you'll need to power up your PC for: Roku says it made a conscious decision to keep the Netflix Player as simple as possible by only allowing you to browse titles in your Netflix Instant Queue (Netflix currently offers over 10,000 movies and television shows for immediate viewing). That means this TV companion will likely provide less of an impulse experience than, say, the Apple TV--which lets you browse options directly from the device--or even than, say, a cable service on-demand system like Comcast offers.

New PSP Colour, Only In Special Madden Bundle

Sony have just announced that on August 12, they'll be releasing a special PSP hardware bundle, built around this year's handheld version of Madden. For $200, you'll get Madden 09, "NFL: In Just One Play" on UMD, a voucher to download the excellent Beats from the PlayStation Store, a 1GB memory stick and, most importantly, a new "Metallic Blue" PSP. If you are connected to the Internet and use it often, you probably heard of Bit Torrent technology. It makes downloading big files, such as movies or games, much faster: you download file not from server, but from every user who already has this file. First of all you have to find a clean one, then lift your hand, swirl your wrist to mix in sugar with your tea or coffee, tap the spoon dry or lick it and after that place it back.
