Intel's Ethernet controllers are popular on desktops, workstations and servers, with a reputation for solid behaviour. The company provides driver packages that cover a wide range of adapters.
If your system works well, you may not need to update. But new releases can add support for newer Windows builds and fix rare bugs. Reading the release notes tells you whether your adapter is affected.
You can see the latest versions on tracker sites, though I prefer to download straight from Intel's support site.
