Latest NVIDIA GeForce Driver for Gaming: How to Get and Install It

Gamers usually want the newest GeForce driver because new releases often add optimisations for recently launched titles and fix known bugs. The version you want is called Game Ready, and it is the default choice for gaming PCs.

The easiest way to check for updates is through the NVIDIA App or GeForce Experience, which tell you when a newer driver is available. You can also visit NVIDIA's official driver page, select your GPU and Windows version, and compare the version number with the one you have installed. To see your current version, right-click the desktop, open NVIDIA Control Panel and look at System Information.

A newer driver is not always necessary. If your games run smoothly, updating is optional, but it is worth doing before a big new release. If a fresh driver causes crashes in a game you love, you can always roll back to the previous one. Close other apps before installing, and restart afterwards so the changes apply properly.
