Installing an Intel Ethernet Driver the Right Way

Identify your adapter first, either in Device Manager or in the network settings. Then download the matching package. Intel offers bundles for several adapter families, so check you choose the right one.

Run the installer, accept the defaults, and restart. If you use special features such as teaming or VLANs, review the options before installing, since those depend on the driver.

Afterwards, confirm the link speed and duplex settings. A cable that supports gigabit should negotiate at that speed without trouble.
