A Clean Way to Install a New GeForce Driver

Installing over an old driver usually works, but a clean install is the safest way to avoid odd leftovers. Download the installer first, then disconnect from the internet if you like, so Windows does not swap drivers behind your back.

Choose the custom install option and tick the clean install box. Your screen will flicker and go black for a moment, which is normal. Restart afterwards, even if the installer says it is not required.

If you have a laptop, check whether your manufacturer ships a customised driver. Most of the time the standard one works, but it is worth knowing. Keep the previous installer saved, because rolling back is much easier when you already have the file.
