Microsoft's device management service has published a series of changes that IT administrators should note. The What's New in Microsoft Intune page lists, for the week of 5 October, the availability of the Intune security baseline for Windows 11 version 26H2, which includes new settings, updated default values and revised security guidance, and says that existing baseline profiles do not update automatically. The week of 12 October brings a new version of Remote Help for Windows.
The page also contains a plan-for-change notice that Intune will enforce an update to the Google Play strong integrity definition for Android 13 and above by 31 October 2026, which may affect devices that fail the integrity check. It further notes that Apple is expected to release macOS 27, referred to in the text as Golden Gate 27, later in the year, and that the unified Company Portal app for iOS and macOS will change shortly after that release.
Security baselines are recommended sets of settings that help organisations configure devices securely. Because new baselines do not replace old ones automatically, administrators have to review them, test the changes and assign them deliberately. Skipping this step can leave devices on older guidance. The Android integrity deadline is more urgent, because noncompliant devices may lose access to company resources.
If you manage devices, now is the time to check which Android devices pass the integrity checks, test the new Windows baseline in a pilot group and plan for macOS 27 compatibility. Review communication to staff in case anything changes on their phones. If you are an ordinary user in an organisation, keep your operating system and apps up to date, since devices running very old software are more likely to be blocked. Watch the Intune page for weekly updates, as dates and details can change.
