A driver timeout means the display driver stopped responding for too long, so Windows reset it. You may see a black screen, a brief freeze or a message that AMD software has recovered from a driver timeout.
Start with simple fixes. Update to the latest AMD driver, or roll back if the problem started after an update. Update Windows and your chipset driver as well. Check temperatures, since overheating can cause crashes, and make sure your power supply is adequate. Remove any overclock or undervolt and test again at default settings.
If problems continue, do a clean installation of the graphics driver. Also inspect your cables and, if possible, try a different one. Some games or apps can trigger timeouts through corrupted files, so verify game files too. Check Windows Event Viewer for clues. If the issue happens only in one program, the cause is more likely the software than your hardware. Persistent timeouts across everything may point to a failing card or power problem.
