If an AMD driver installation fails, freezes or gives an error, do not panic. Most problems come from conflicts with old drivers, background software or an incomplete Windows update.
First, restart your PC and try again. Install pending Windows updates, temporarily disable antivirus and close overlays or monitoring tools. Make sure you downloaded the correct driver for your graphics card and your 64-bit Windows version, and re-download the installer in case the file was damaged.
If the error continues, use the Factory Reset option in AMD's installer or remove the old driver with Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode, then install again. Check that you have enough free disk space and that Windows system files are healthy by running the System File Checker. If the screen stays black, boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the driver from there. Write down any error code you see, since it helps narrow the cause when searching AMD's support pages.
